
But the fascination with toothbrushes is something new. He always fought us when we would try to massage his gums with the finger-brush-thingy, and he was a late teether, so we didn't need to think about brushing his teeth for most of his first year. He got his first bottom tooth at 10 months, and its neighbor came through at 11 months. He got three on the top around 12 months, and by 13 months, the fourth one on top was also cut. We finally incorporated brushing his teeth into his bathtime routine when he turned 1 and Santa left a toothbrush in his stocking.
To be honest, he doesn't really brush his teeth. But he sucks on the toothbrush and moves it around a little. And a tantrum ensues whenever we remove the beloved object from his grip. We're hoping this translates into meticulous dental habits and good teeth as he matures.
