Almost 7 Hours

Praise Sweet Baby Jesus! Last night, Jackson slept from 7:45 to 2:30!

Jackson has never been a good sleeper. Partly, it's due to his personality; he would rather play and hang out with us than waste time sleeping. It also results from some of our parenting choices, namely co-sleeping and not sleep training. It's not that we haven't explored these things. I've read No-Cry Sleep Solution and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, implemented bedtime routines, and tweaked nap schedules. But we didn't go beyond that and hoped eventually he'd grow out of waking at night.

Anyhow, last night Jackson made progress. For our non-sleeper, waking up once a night is quite an accomplishment. I'm hypothesizing that there were a couple of reasons he slept well. First, he isn't sick or teething. I also dressed him in less clothing, and he seems to prefer to be cooler when he sleeps. Also, Howard slept in the guest room. Lastly, we put him down later than usual. I'm not sure whether this was the best idea as he woke up for the day at 5:15, but maybe he is ready for a slightly later bedtime.

In any case, I'm probably jinxing myself with this post. I'm crossing my fingers for another good night of sleep.
