We took Jackson to the Christmas festivities at Kapolei Hale, a toned-down version of the annual celebration at Honolulu Hale. There is a super-sized Christmas tree and other holiday statues outside the building.
Inside, we saw quite a few beautifully decorated trees. Jackson and Nesta, of course, loved the one that featured trucks.
Jackson also played with the snowmen in front of the snowman-themed tree. These days, he's fascinated by anything resembling a "towman."
Some other fun displays included the gingerbread house and the trees covered with cupcakes and diet coke cans. (Yay for recycling!)
After sunset, Jackson witnessed his first parade. At first, he just took in the bright lights and dramatic sounds. Some of the floats were too loud for him, but a couple had characters he liked so much that he waved goodbye to them.
There's also a street in our neighborhood that is an impressive sight. With the exception of only a couple houses, residents on this cul-de-sac have decorated their homes and front lawns with lights, inflatables and even music! Their efforts have made our evening walks enjoyable and helped us teach Jackson some of the main characters and images of Christmas.
