Howard and I guessed that maybe the clam chowder he ate for dinner was the cause of his tummy troubles. (He had nasty diaper the next morning, too. ) We kept him home and decided to take him to the doctor. He'd been fighting a cold and cough for several weeks, so we wanted Dr. Reddy's opinion on that as well.
Her initial diagnosis for the persistent cold and cough was allergies. Jackson's ears were clear, and his chest sounded OK, but she ordered a chest x-ray just to rule out something more serious. I took Jackson to Kapiolani, where they used a scary contraption to take the x-ray. Poor Jackson screamed the entire time, and he even needed to go inside twice because the first set of films weren't exposed correctly. But otherwise, he was a great sport, flirting with and smiling at everyone in the hospital.
He took a long nap after the procedure. We were in the Kmart parking lot when he finally woke up, and unfortunately, he threw up again. We'd fed him mild foods for breakfast and lunch, but apparently the tummy bug was still going strong. Even on Saturday, he continued to have diarrhea.
And if that weren't bad enough, he was attacked by another bug, probably an ant or mosquito, who left two huge welts on his back and neck.
Today, Dr. Reddy called with the results of his chest x-ray, which showed some fluid in his lungs indicative of a mild infection. He is currently taking a cocktail of antibiotics (Azithromax), antihistamines (Allegra and Veramist) and Albuterol. Hopefully, they'll work quickly and get him healthy soon.
