A Day at the Zoo

Friday was our first family trip to the zoo. (Thanks to Aunty Christine, Uncle Ryan and Kaiao, we had a gift certificate for a family membership!) Howard had to work, but Jackson and I went along with Aunty Mo, Nesta, Papa and Nana.

Before exploring the animal exhibits, we had a picnic on the grass. Nesta enjoyed chasing the birds around, but Jackson was content to hang out on the blanket and eat. He was hungry, and the tofu patty and eggplant really hit the spot!

We didn't have time to meet all the animals, but the elephants and monkeys were favorites. Jackson would point and say "what's that?" every time he saw a new animal. We spent sometime in the Keiki Zoo, a section specifically for children. Here, we saw cows, fish, pigs and even got up close and personal with some goats. Jackson was a bit afraid of them, but it was fun to let him wander around inside their cage.

Jackson and Nesta's had fun playing on the grass and eating shave ice. And of course, their favorite part of the zoo was the playground!

It was definitely a fun day. Jackson fell asleep five minutes after we got into the car!
