Tis the Season
The past month has been chock-full of holiday activities. We baked cookies, crafted a gingerbread sleigh and built a tree out of an ice cream cone with his kindergarten class. Jackson and I kicked things off by putting up the Christmas tree just a couple of days after Thanksgiving.
Jackson was not content with indoor decorations and demanded that Howard put lights up on both the front of the house (a feat requiring multiple adventures on the roof) and the back patio. We made several trips around the neighborhood to look at lights, attended the Kapolei City Lights parade and viewed the festivities at Honolulu City Hall. We also visited the famous "Heineken Street," where both kids kept their distance from a liefelike Santa Claus, but enjoyed the rest of the displays.
One of our neighbors featured a tree decorated with Bakugan toys, which inspired this replica by Jackson.
We exchanged gifts with Nana, Papa, Nesta, Aunty Moani and Uncle Rob on Christmas Eve. There were so many presents that a fort was built!
They were loaded up with new clothes, art supplies and awesome toys from relatives and friends. The drum set Jackson received from Nana and Papa has turned out to be a hit with both kids. We hope our neighbors are understanding!
Macy was taught about Santa for weeks, but she still had to be dragged out of bed Christmas morning. She woke up quickly once she saw what was there: Santa brought a tricycle for her and "robot dinos" for Jackson.
