Macy and Nana accompanied me to Chicago for a work conference. We were fortunate to have a direct flight, and Macy was awesome on her first plane ride. She slept most of the overnight trip, and a few passengers commented on how well she did. She even kept smiling as we picked up our luggage, hailed a taxi and arrived at our hotel at sunrise.
Not surprisingly, she did need to catch up on sleep eventually, but she adjusted to the time change within a day or so. Despite having a crib in our room, she preferred snoozing on the bed.
Unfortunately, Chicago lived up to its nickname as the weather was windy, rainy and cold for the majority of our stay. Macy and Nana spent a lot of time playing in the room and strolling around the hotel.
We did make an effort to leave the building for food, though. Nana and I enjoyed deep dish pizza, pastrami sandwiches and more; Macy watched us eat with envy!
We also took in a few sights, namely Grant Park,
Millenium Park, and the
Art Institute of Chicago, which were a short walk away. We shopped a bit, too, but we'll definitely need to return to see more of the city.
We ended up having to fly home through Charlotte (which is backwards for anyone not so geographically inclined). And we had to leave super early in the morning for the longest travel day ever. Once again, Macy was a trooper! She flirted with and entertained our fellow passengers in between naps.
