Jackson's class took a field trip to Ko Olina for a
boat ride. Since it happened to be a furlough day, I was available to tag along. We arrived early, and Jackson showed me one of his bug activities.
It was a cool, rainy, splashy ride. But we got up close and personal with a couple of sea turtles and a pack of dolphins - perfect for the Dolphins and Turtles class! The boat captains also fed some fish. (Sadly, we did not encounter any sharks or octopus.)
The ship in the distance is the Black Pearl from
Pirates of the Caribbean. The next installment is being filmed on Kauai, and they happen to be storing it here in the meantime. Apparently,
Lost was also filming out in the ocean, but we didn't get close enough to sneak a peak.
Jackson enjoyed a snack before boarding the bus back to school. What a fun excursion!
