Sassy Cephalopod

Jackson's favorite movie these days is Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. When the movie was first released, he got a Rexy toy from a Happy Meal; he liked it because Rexy was a dinosaur, but didn't know anything about the movie. Recently, we rented the DVD for him, and he became obsessed. He acts out scenes and recites lines. He imitates The Thinker, assuming the thoughtful position and saying "I'm thinking... thinking" and flexing his muscles and saying "look at the gun show!"

He also likes the Easter Island statue who frequently requests "gum gum." But his absolute favorite character is the giant squid (which he insists is an octopus). Not only was he fortunate enough to receive a squid Happy Meal toy, but he also scored a stuffed squid from the real Smithsonian from Uncle Al! The squid accompanies him everywhere except for the bathtub, which is a nightly disappointment for him. Before bed, we read him a book featuring an octopus, tell him an octopus story and sing him an octopus song.

The coolest part is is that he asks questions about characters and things he sees in the movie. We may just have a little Ross Gellar on our hands.
