Bad Medicine

Ever since last weekend's Bon Jovi concert, I've been itching to insert a reference into a post. So, here it is. Unfortunately, it's not under the best circumstances: both kids are on amoxicillin.

Last Thursday, Kim noticed that Macy had a fever. Tylenol didn't help much, so I took her to the emergency room. She endured another chest x-ray and swabs for RSV and flu and was initially diagnosed with bronchitis. The radiologist confirmed that she actually had pneumonia, and she was prescribed antibiotics. To add insult to injury, after taking the medicine for a few days, she developed a rash, apparently a common side effect of the drug.

Meanwhile, Jackson has had a runny nose for the past month. We attributed it to spending all day in the germ-fest that is preschool, but were concerned about his cough. It turns out that he has a sinus infection, which also requires antibiotics. But we did get some good news from this doctor visit - he finally cracked 30 lbs!

So for at least the next week or so, I'll be squirting bubble-gum flavored liquid into my kids' mouths twice a day. And in my head I'll be singing "Your love is like bad medicine... Bad medicine is what I need... Shake it up... Just like bad medicine..."
