Yes, Like the Store

One of my earliest blog posts discussed the origin of Jackson's name and some of his nicknames. I thought it would be appropriate to do a similar post for Macy.

For the record, Macy was not named because I'm a shopaholic. Macy was a surnmae on my dad's side of the family, and Macie was Howard's great-grandmother's name. We debated how to spell it - Macy, Macie, Macey or May-C (just kidding) - but ultimately chose the most common spelling, despite it being the name as a famous department store.

Nohea is derived from my mom's Hawaiian name, Alanohea. It translates to "lovely" or "handsome," and we certainly expect her to live it up to it!

She hasn't acquired too many nicknames yet. We call her Lady or Miss Macy occasionally, neither of which are especially imaginative or meaningful. We're working on a nickname starting with the letter B since the rest of us all have them; Howard is Bean, I'm Bear and Jackson is Bug. Howard jokingly suggested Bacon in reference to her affinity for eating and rapidly increasing fat rolls, but I think we need to pick something a little nicer.
